Changes to our registration fees
We review our fees annualy, balancing quality regulation with long-term financial stability. These incremental changes are essential to sustain operations, the register itself, the features available to our registrants, manage rising fitness to practise (FtP) referrals, and invest in system improvements.
Without fee adjustments, HPAC would not remain financially sustainable. As registrant numbers grow, so do FtP referrals – each requiring thorough, fair investigation to protect the public, as well as our Registrants. The latest increase, delayed from prior years, was implemented on 07 November 2025 at £84.50 annually.
A two-yearly rate of £149.50 was introduced on the same date. This rate is subject to the same base increase of CPI + 2.5% adjustments to reflect operational cost changes and reasonable growth, and will take regular effect from 29 April 2027 to minimise significant price jumps. However, we will continue to keep price rises reasonable and to a minimum.
Changes to the Registration Fee
This is the fee for maintaining active registration. A two-yearly option is now available.
| Fee Type | May 2021 | 6 Apr 2023 | 07 Nov 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annual Registration Fee | £69.50 | £79.50 | £84.50 |
| Two-yearly Registration Fee | — | — | £149.50 |
No increases were applied in 2022 or 2024. The November 2025 adjustment reflects deferred CPI and increased operational costs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Applicants submitting on or after 07 November 2025 pay £84.50 (or £149.50 for two-yearly).
Existing registrants pay the new fee at their next renewal if it introduced 31 days or more before their renewal date. You can check your renewal date in your portal.
The new fee applies only upon renewal (if introduce 31+ days before your renewal date).
From 29 April 2027, HPAC will annually adopt regular smaller increases (CPI + 2.5% on average) to avoid large jumps and maintain sustainability. Fees were held steady in 2022 and 2024, but delayed adjustments now require a period of catch-up.
Fee increases are necessary to keep HPAC sustainable. Rising registrant numbers mean more Fitness to Practise referrals, each of which must be investigated fairly and thoroughly to protect public as well as registrants. Inflation reduces the real value of the pound over time, so even if our operational costs did not rise, charging the same income without adjusting for inflation alone would be a reduction in revenue for HPAC each year.
This adjustment enables continued delivery of a robust and effective regulation.
Registration follows a fixed cycle based on your first payment date. It auto-renews annually, or biennially if you select the two-year option.
You will be prompted around 30 days before your anniversary. Payment covers the next 12 or 24 months.
From 29 April 2026, fees increase annually by UK CPI plus 2.5%. Changes may also occur for other reasons, and we will provide advance notice, however we do not expect this now that we have established a regular date when our price change will take place.
