Dave Blain

Concerns Processing Lead


Dave Blain is an independent safeguarding consultant with 42 years experience in the health sector prior to NHS retirement in 2021. A paramedic by clinical background, but the past 25 years working in child and adult safeguarding roles within various NHS services.  This included acute trusts, numerous ambulance services, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Primary Care and roles within NHS England/Improvement.
 
Dave was the national safeguarding advisor to the College of Paramedics from 2012 up until retirement, and has worked on numerous national safeguarding projects and documents with the Department of Health, Home Office, Health Education England and NHS England.  Dave also established the National Ambulance Safeguarding Advisory Group in 2009 and chaired the group for 7 years.
 
During Dave’s career he has been involved in over 100 safeguarding multi-agency reviews for children and adults.  Further relevant experience has also been gained from involvement in 34 Domestic Homicide/Suicide Reviews.
 
Dave holds a BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science, a BA (Hons) in Teaching and Learning, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
